To be honest, I’m not really sure how to start this post. As I write, the Corona Virus is spreading around the world in an unprecedented manner, resulting in governments taking drastic measures to try and limit the impact.
The Modern Sampler Cushion was initially designed as a free email series during the early stages of lock-down to help everyone can benefit from sitting, stitching and switching off from a crazy world.
There are a total of fourteen blocks to be made, and I have chosen them as they should take no more than 15-30mins each day from start to finish.
What is involved?
The cushion is made from a total of fourteen (14) blocks, with eight (8) different designs.
Do check out this post which talks about colour choices and also details how to colour your cushion plan digitally (on a pad/tablet) using a free app.
Fabric wise, this modern sampler is designed to use scraps, so you will need fabrics varying from a minimum of 1.5″ square to a maximum of 7.5″ square.
The blocks can be hand or machine stitched – I will be hand-piecing as I find this more mindful – but machining will definitely be quicker!
There is no specialist equipment needed, but if you would like to have a look at some of my favourite items for hand-sewing, then please check them out here;
The Mini-Mindful Modern Sampler is based on making one block a day over a two week period.
However, you could make it a lot quicker – maybe a weekend project or make two (2) blocks a day and have a finished cushion top in eight days???
