Teardrop Mini

Have you all had a great weekend? Ours has been pretty good as they go – we even managed some relaxing!!!

So, today I’m going to share with you some secret sewing that I’ve been doing! It’s taken me a while to blog about because to be honest I was so excited about it happening and then once it did I wasn’t quite sure how to talk about it, so hopefully I’ll do a good job!

A little while ago, I submitted an idea to Quilt Now for a mini quilt/cushion cover and now you can find it in Issue 3! Eeeeep! Although just a little strange to see my face in a magazine!

It’s a mini quilt, with the blocks constructed using foundation paper-piecing. I got to play with some Alison Glass Field Day as the feature fabrics and mixed in low-volume fabrics for the background.

It’s finished with a mix of machine and hand quilting and I controversially bound it in brown (shock-horror!).

The most amazing thing was that the issue arrived Saturday morning and on Sunday evening Jennie posted a picture of her already finished Teardrop Mini quilt top – so speedy and it made my day that someone had liked the pattern enough to make it!!!!!

Oh, and looking through my pictures vs. the magazine I’ve realised that I need a professional photographer on call at all times to make my projects look amazing………!!!!!!

See you soon,

It was my favourite project in the magazine, I have to say (including my own) 🙂 Which way up is it supposed to go? I think I'd hang it so they were thin at the top and fat at the bottom like teardrops, but I've now seen it every which way!

BTW what is controversial about brown? 😉

Just found this post! Thanks for the link and thanks for such a great pattern! I quilted mine last week and I'm just waiting on some binding. There is absolutely nothing wrong with brown – I love it!

    Hi Sonia 🙂

I've decided to use your Teardrop Mini pattern in a swap (a rainbow one!), however, I'm having problems with the paper-piecing part 🙁 Could I be cheeky and ask for the "idiots" guide please? It might be brain fuzz after work, but I can't seem to understand how it works and I've gone cross eyed now, lol.

    Thank you!
