Feeling Christmassy…A Lacey Wreath
How are you getting on with Christmas? I’m slowly getting into the festive spirit! I’ve been thinking about making a fabric wreath for a while now and thought it would be a great Christmas decoration. Have you seen how fabric hungry they are though?! About 1.5-2m per wreath depending on how full you want them and I just didn’t have any/enough of the colours to hand to make one up.
And then, at silly o’clock one morning, I had a thought! A good friend of mine had happened across a bag of lace when clearing out her loft and offered it to me and it occurred to me that it would make a perfect snowy, lacy wreath!. So I was off!
Materials Needed
- Wire wreath base (I popped
in to my local florist or you can find similar here) - Lace eg. old net curtains
- Organza
- (Optional) seed beads and wooden decorations
To make the wreath, I set to chopping up all my lace into 4-5″ lengths and tied them on to the wire wreath (you can find a tutorial here)
…I then added in some strips of organza to fluff it out a bit more and then I was ready to pimp decorate it. I got these pretty decorations from Hobbycraft, although you can find similar here, here and here. For some of the decorations, I used a hot-glue gun to stick
Beads were added, cotton was tied….
And then it was all ready to hang up with some twine…
It looks very pretty in our lounge and was so much fun to make. I’m even starting to think about digging out our Christmas decorations now…..!!!

Today’s sky ● overcast, misty and cold but oh so pretty!

Thanks so much, that's very kind x
Thanks Lynne x
Thanks E 🙂 It's nice to see the pretty lace out on display. And Frosty Wreath is a much better name for it, if only I'd thought of it! Sx
Looks lovely Sonia and so individual. You are such a talented lady!
Your wreath is gorgeous! What a brilliant idea.
What a beautiful wreath, Sonia! I love the frosty lace effect – what a clever twist on the fabric wreath theme. And thrifty to boot – what more can you ask for?! Enjoy! E x
