The Inspiration

I thought I’d share with you the inspiration behind the Adventure Quilt BOM, as I always love to hear the backstory…..but if you don’t, then just skip right to the next section!

Quilting for me is full of ideas and decisions. As I’m working on a design, I’ll often think of three different things I could do, and have to choose one…..it’s a bit like the Choose Your Own Adventure Books I used to love when I was younger (and I am probably showing my age here – anyone else a child of the 80’s?!).

My favourite one was by Enid Blyton: you would start at the beginning of a Famous Five story and then, depending on how you rolled the dice, or the choices that you made at the end of each chapter, there would be a different adventure each time. Hours of fun!!!

Quilt design is so similar: at each step, I can make a choice of fabrics, block design or border that can completely change how the finished quilt looks.

What does this mean for the Adventure Quilt BOM 2021?

I want to take you on an adventure and make a Medallion Quilt!

Just like the Choose Your Own Adventure Books that I loved so much as a child, everyone will start the 2021 Adventure Quilt making the same block: the beginning of our story.

For the rest of the year, each month you choose from at least two patterned block/border designs so that by the end of 2021 you will have a quilt design unique to you.

The blocks and borders are interchangeable so that you can pick the elements that you love, practise new skills (if you want) and hopefully have lots of fun along the way!

I’ve kept some of the block details hidden (it’s part of the adventure!) but this will give you an idea of the two different styles/borders that we will be adding!!!

This is the perfect project if you want to experiment, create an individual quilt, and have all the calculations done for you!

As a quilt of two halves, you could mix and match borders and make something truly unique.

How will it work?

The Adventure Quilt will be hosted on a private page with step-by-step written instructions, video, community and live workshops to troubleshoot, share progress and answer questions.

The Adventure Quilt BOM is priced at £60 for the year and there are two payment plan options: annual (£60) and monthly (£6 for ten (10) months).

The monthly plan is only available until the 31st January 2021 with ten (10) monthly payments being taken from when you sign up – I thought this would help with Christmas budgeting!
